“Thanks so much for singing on the main title of “Avatar”! You did such a beautiful job!”
-James Horner, composer

“Recording my song cycle with Karen was a thoroughly delightful experience. Her voice was consistently warm and radiant and her vocal technique outstanding. Plus she was a wonderful collaborator, in listening to and implementing my suggestions as a composer, as well as adding her own insights, which were borne of a keen musical intelligence and a genuine sensibility for the music. I was very happy with her performance and look forward to the next time I’m fortunate enough to work with her!”
-J.A.C. Redford -composer, arranger, orchestrator and conductor of concert, chamber and choral music, film, television

In addition to her live performances, Karen is an accomplished recording artist. As a member of Sag-Aftra since 2001, she has over 20 years of experience as both a solo and ensemble singer for soundtrack and sound recordings of many kinds. Her favorite styles are operatic classical, ensemble classical, music theatre – both classic and contemporary, jazz, folk, and child-like singing.

She received a Grammy Award in 2007 for the Best Small Ensemble Performance with the Los Angeles Chamber Singers, and was also a member of the LA Master Chorale when they won the 2022 Best Choral Performance Grammy with the LA Phil’s Mahler Symphony No. 8.

She has been featured as a soloist on soundtracks for the movies Avatar, The Smurfs 2, 9/Tenths, and recently the several last seasons The 100. As an ensemble member she can be heard on dozens of soundtracks including recent productions of Willow (TV Series), Super Pets, Super Mario Brothers, The Simpsons, but also classics like Frozen I and II, Avatar, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

“Karen is a phenomenal soprano. One of Los Angeles’ vocal masters. She is uncompromising in both her recordings in the studio and live on the stage. Karen’s vocal performance and musicianship simply elevates everything she sings on.”
